(Audition Required) New Hope Youth Dance Company is for dedicated dancers who are chosen by audition. The NHYDC is designed to increase the love of dance providing opportunities to attend dance conventions, workshops, competitions and to perform all over the DMV area. Membership in the NHYDC is a privilege and growth opportunity and should be treated as such. Dance technique, ability to focus, desire to dance, and artistry are some of the criteria used for selection of dancers. There are various categories, depending on age and ability. Pre-Company is an introduction to the dance company for dancers ages 5 to 7. “Minis” are between the ages of 7 and 10. “Junior” ages are 11 to 12, and “Teen/Senior” is for middle & high school dancers.
Some dance company members are in the category of “Apprentice,” which means that they are working on increasing their technical dance abilities. There will be choreography and events that they will not participate in. The Dance Company allows the dancers to experience training , performing and competing in a dance team environment.

Dance Company Gets First Place for their Hip-Hop Performance
The dance company swept the awards at the Legacy Dance Competition April 8-11, 2016. They won “over all highest scores” for 1st, 2nd,3rd, 4th, 5th, & 7th place. They got first place for their Hip Hop Medley routine.

New Hope Youth Dance Company, Competition and Awards
The New Hope Youth Dance Company competed today. They performed three dances and received (2) Platinum Awards (Highest level) and (1) Elite Gold (Next Highest). They received the “Judges Choice Award” for the Best Choregoraphy (Hurray Ms Valeria!). Two of the dances were awarded “Top 10” and the other made it “Top 5.”

They participated this past weekend and had two full days of “master dance classes.” One of our dancers was chosen through audition as a “scholarship finalist.” Congratulations, Ambar Matos!

We had a truly great time when we visited Heartfields on Saturday. We danced for the senior residents, sang and spent time talking and listening about their lives.
New Hope Youth Dance Company members selected for Nutcracker “Solos” Congratulations to Bedelina Miller who audition for the Nutcracker at the Baltimore Ballet and was selected to do the Arabian “Solo”. Likewise, Ambar Matos Ortiz selected to do “Marzapan” and Isabel Gonzalez was selected to do Chinese. All of them have several other parts in the show

The New Hope Youth Dance Company Seniors performed at Kinderfest on Sunday. With a nature background, they delighted the audience with their dancing! Thank you to all the parents and dancers who came out to support them. They performed Cupid’s Variation, Sarabande, and Drop and Roll.

New York City Dance Alliance in Baltimore
Congratulations to the New Hope Youth Dance Company for doing so well at the dance competition with the New York City Dance Alliance in Baltimore on January 11 & 12, 2014.
The dance company participated in this two-day dance convention where they took many master classes and also entered the dance competition. They won two Gold Awards and a High Silver Award. Keep it up!

The New Hope Performing Arts Center was selected from among hundreds of other groups to perform at the Cherry Blossom Family Festival.
New Hope Performing Arts Center Performs at 2013 Cherry Blossom Family Festival
The New Hope Performing Arts Center was selected among hundreds of other groups to perform at the Cherry Blossom Family Festival at the National Building Museum. Dancers from first grade to high school presented a variety of styles (Jazz, contemporary, African, Hip Hop). They were warmly received by a crowd of families that had come to the festival to enjoy the many hands-on activities and the performances.
