Going to World Special Olympics

The New Hope Youth Dance Company is going to the World Special Olympics in Abu Dhabi with Rhythm Xpress, a dance team for people with intellectual disabilities. The partnership has been going on for 2 years now, including various local performances, upcoming competitions and a trip to the World Special Olympics in Abu Dhabi this spring.

New Hope Dance Company Volunteers for Toys for Tots

The New Hope Dance & Drama combined efforts with the New Hope Academy high school to do a “toy drive” and bring happiness to many children. Thank you to all that contributed!

New Hope Dance Company Volunteers at Toy Distribution

Today, December 9, the dance company performed with great energy at the Ronald Reagan Building. The event was a Holiday Fair and Toy Distribution organized by Dialogue on Diversity. The dancers volunteered to serve lunch.

New Hope Dance parents donate food for the” baskets of “life & hope” to give away for Thanksgiving. The baskets are distributed at El Poder De ser Mujer brand new Center.

The New Hope Dance Company performed on Friday (November 4th) at the “El Poder de Ser Mujer” (Power of being a Woman) Gala. Dancers and families had a great time. Juniors and Seniors performed several dances and were warmly received by the audience. See photos of the Gala below:

Dancing for Residents at Bowie Nursing Home

December 20, 2015. The NHYDC performed for residents at Larkin Chase Nursing Home in Bowie, Maryland. The younger and older dancers enjoyed performing for and interacting with residents.

Serving the community this summer. Summer events:

  • “The NHYDC, performed in the “Limelight”, event to raise funds for missionary work in Gambia. They performed “You Make it Real” and “Waka Waka” . See video clips of the event on Facebook.
  • The NHY Dance company led the “Walk Again John”  fundraiser. It raised about $30,000 and he was able to buy a FES bike to do therapy at home and help him on his journey to WALK AGAIN!

  • The NHY Dance Company performed for the Gambia Fundraiser, and met John Abendroth & his family. Miss Lydia also gave an amazing and passionate performance and received a standing ovation. It was a very special event!!!
  • Following the commitment to serve the community, the NHYDC performed at the “Cena Rosa” (Pink Dinner), sponsored by “El Poder de ser Mujer”, event dedicated to raise funds for cancer research.
